Justine Bautista, M.A.

Ph.D student, graduate student researcher

About me.

I am a graduate student researcher studying digital mental health in emerging adults, mainly with a focus in working with diverse communities. As a researcher, I have also become an advocate for tech equity and mental health literacy, finding myself in spaces such as The White House (pictured right) where I have discussed how industry leaders, policymakers, and advocates can work together.

Currently, I am a graduate student scholar for the CERES Center at the University of California, Irvine where I work with scholars in both academia and industry. I also am currently working with Asian Mental Health Collective to design and evaluate digital tools for the community. Broadly, my research has a strong focus in human-computer interactions (HCI) and user experience. I have used a mixed methods approach to better understand how technology can better support mental health needs of emerging adults. I also come with a broad range of experiences, supporting Latitude + Lumiere  in an industry setting, conducting research as a data analyst. I do this alongside my work in academia and in advocacy, continuously finding ways to make my research impactful.
